SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Analysis

Drillbitnews.com welcomes submissions of analytical and research articles for publication online. Submissions must be exclusive (i.e. not submitted or anywhere else online or in print) and should be between 750 and 1500 words in length. Submissions should seek to represent unique perspectives or conclusions on critical issues in American politics and society. You may republish an article we have published online, but it must credit drillbitnews.com and indicate that it was first published by us.

We do our best to read all articles sent to us promptly, but please bear in mind that we receive many submissions daily. We will endeavor to respond as quickly as possible with our decision regarding publication of submissions. If the submission is fully written and formatted in accordance with the guidelines, then it is likely to receive a speedier review.

When submitting an analytical or research document, the article should be included in the body of the e-mail and/or in an attached Microsoft Word document (no PDFs please). It should include a short headline and a tagline identifying the author(s). It MUST include contact information for the author(s), and at the bottom of the article a one-line bio for EACH author should be included. In the interest of transparency, the author must disclose any financial or lobbying relations he/she may have with the subjects raised.

Analysis and research submissions should be strictly the author’s writing with appropriate use of quotations and hyperlinks to clearly indicate the source of facts and other critical information. Submissions will be reviewed by multiple members of the editorial board for both accuracy, substantive, and literary strength of the document. All stated facts and linked references will be thoroughly reviewed for confirmation. It is expected that submissions will use legitimate and fully vetted resources in the development of their analysis of research.

Several factors are considered when determining potential publication of the submission including: quality of writing, originality of thought, depth of research, timeliness, and relevance to ‘current sociopolitical issues in American society.’ Relevance and timeliness are obviously significant, but so too are the quality of writing and analysis. Further, please be sure you are not offering a submission that duplicates recent publications by the site. Submissions may be edited for content, style and space.

Drillbitnews.com endeavors to provide a critical, well-informed, and balanced analyses of the most pressing issues and topics of the day. Submissions should seek to engage a specific point or perspective on social and political issues in America today, while demonstrating every effort to avoid rhetoric or generally incendiary discussion. The goal is to expand the space for civil and informed consideration of the most pressing issues in the country today. While there may be instances where a point-counterpoint dynamic is established between multiple submissions, the goal is to always present as fair and balanced a perspective as possible.
